In fact, sports and outdoors are really happening in this town. The car-free Pinellas Trail winds through Palm Harbor, where bicyclists, walkers and skaters cruise for fun and exercise. Avid and novice fishermen can choose the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Tarpon for saltwater and freshwater fishing.
Palm Harbor is a great halfway point to land—it’s close to the cosmopolitan attractions of the Tampa Bay area, but it has a quaint and charming atmosphere. Take a walk on Florida Avenue in the historic downtown, where many of the early buildings are preserved and are open to visitors. Plus, you can spend hours poking around in the area’s cool little shops, galleries and restaurants.
